Doing physical activities together helps improve your relationship with your child while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In this day and age where adults and children tend to sit in front of screens for way too long, it’s especially important that we try to exercise as much as we can.

Here are some ways on how to be an active family together:

  1. Exercising as a way of transport

Try using bicycles or even just walking as your mode of transport when going out. If the location is too far and you are taking your car, park it at the furthest spot away from the destination. Consider using the stairs instead of lifts too.

  1. Make it fun

Almost anything can be turned into something fun, if you try. One thing that children love for sure would be doing something fun! Simple activities like playing their favourite song and having a dance party and bringing them to miniature golf courses that are child-friendly will definitely do the trick.

  1. Motivate using competition

Competition motivates many, including children. Hold a competition between you and your children, and the winner gets a prize. The prize can be something that promotes activity such as a skipping rope or a Frisbee. This can be used for the next exercising session as well!

  1. Using mobile apps

With technology being so advanced now, there are applications for almost anything you can think of. So of course, one of them would be physical activities. Some applications that are family-friendly include HomeCourt, an AI basketball app that allows you and your child to have fun from home! Check out the video here to see how it works.

  1. Make time for exercising

We might be drowning in work, and our child might also be experiencing the same thing with schoolwork. Set aside some time each day, at a specific timing for exercising. Exercising as a family is way easier than doing it alone!

With our busy schedules, exercising may not seem like an important thing to do. However, a little bit of exercise time every day can do more good than you think in the long run. It’s also important for our children to have a habit of keeping fit starting from a young age!
